Simplified Wastewater Respirometer
A simplified and inexpensive respirometer is available for use in small biological wastewater treatment plants. Based on the same principles as the 1970’s fully automatic Arthur Respirometer, this simplified version can perform the same respirometric tests for toxicity, treatabilty, nitrification/denitrification and organic load measurement. However, the readout is now manual, not electronic, and temperature control has been eliminated, resulting in an affordable but equally effective instrument. The respirometer is suited for users who don’t require every expensive feature but want to know what is happening biologically in their wastewater treatment plant so they can avoid upsets, do troubleshooting and pinpoint problem wastes. Users simply add a sample, and the easy-to-use instrument reads the results in a few minutes or, for certain longer term tests, in about two hours.
