Analyzer Measures Trace Amounts of Nitrogen in Argon

GOW-MAC Instrument's Series 1200 gas analyzer measures
trace amounts of nitrogen in argon. Model 1200-A and
model 1200-B cover the analytical ranges of 0-2/0-20
ppm and 0-20/0-200 ppm, respectively. Detection is based
on spectral emission of argon plasma. High signal gain
and improved noise rejection give the series the guaranteed
sensitivity of 10 ppb for nitrogen. The low cost, low
maintenance analyzer is rugged and simple to operate.
It does not have valves, a carrier gas, or a radioactive
source and is maintenance-free. Additional features
include online, continuous trending of nitrogen concentration
with no need for sample injection or separation columns.

Permeation Tubes for High Pressure Reactive Gases
Kin-Tek Laboratories' Trace Source FK series refillable permeation tubes are used in proprietary gas standard generators to make ppb and low ppm mixtures of highly reactive gases. Permeation tubes typically use liquid analyte compound and its vapor as the permeate source. KF tubes, however, use a controlled pressure of only the analyte vapor. Analyte dilutions of up to 109:1 can be achieved in a single step. Thus, the tubes can be used for high pressure analytes such as anhydrous HCl, HBr, silane, phosphine and other high pressure gases including atmospheric gases....more>>

Laboratory and Portable TOC Analyzers

GE Analytical Instrument's Sievers 900 laboratory TOC and Sievers 900 portable TOC analyzers deliver high productivity through advanced automation and convenient features. Advantages and features include automated calibration and validation procedures, 4-min analysis time, automated reagent adjustment, 12-month calibration stability and low maintenance requirements. Both models offer high accuracy and precision across a 0.03-ppb to 50-ppm operating range. The laboratory analyzer's compact 19.2-cm wide profile uses bench space efficiently, while the portable instrument weighs only 27.5 lbs and measures 14× 9× 18. The analyzers can be used with the high-capacity 900 autosampler that offers user-defined random sampling capability for added flexibility and convenience. ...more>>

Automated Xylene Extractables and Viscosity Measurements

Polymer ChAR's fully automated CRYSTEX determines the percentage of extractables in polypropylene (amorphous rubber content) and ethylene content based on specific IR sensors. In addition, a capillary viscometer is implemented to obtain the viscosity of the different components, amorphous and crystalline, and of the original sample. The entire process is automated under computer control so manpower is not required, achieving high precision and reproducibility. The instrument can analyze PP products of all ranges of Mw because columns or in-line filters that can be plugged or need to be adapted to a given range have been eliminated. ...more>>

Chiral Stationary Phases for HPLC Incorporate Zirconia

ZirChrom Separations' Five chiral stationary phases (CSPs), suited for analytical and preparative-scale HPLC, incorporate the chemical and mechanical stability of zirconia with the flexibility of Lewis acid/base anchored chiral selectors. Zirconia features many properties for HPLC, including spherical particle shape and narrow size distribution. Additionally, it exhibits high chemical and mechanical stability. The synthesis of the chiral phases capitalizes on the presence of Lewis acid (Zr+4) sites on the surface of the zirconia to provide a more robust and chemically flexible platform for CSP design. ...more>>

One-Piece Instrumentation Ball Valves

Swagelok's 40G Series of one-piece instrumentation ball valves is for use in environmental applications where outdoor ambient temperatures fluctuate. They are also suited for heated-process applications with elevated process fluid temperatures. Working pressures range up to 3000 psig, and temperatures measure from -65 F to 300 F. Features include a single-piece encapsulated packing design and live-loaded packing system, which reduce the need for packing adjustment and improve thermal cycle performance. Constructed of modified PTFE, the single-piece packing does not require system pressure to seal, reduces potential leak points, and allows bi-directional flow...more>>

Darwin
The latest evolution in commercial-off-the-shelf
Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for
pharmaceutical development and quality control, is now
commercially available from Thermo Electron Corporation. Darwin
LIMS is groundbreaking because the software provides users with a
significantly higher level of pharmaceutical functionality out of
the box. Darwin LIMS also shortens the implementation time,
lessens validation cost, minimizes challenges of upgrading and lowers
the total cost of ownership for customers.

ReedLink
Pittcon Debut
Niche Search Engine for Laboratory Scientists with Product
Search Offerings in Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy
ReedLink (www.reedlinkcom),
a vertical search engine offering laboratory scientists
product specifications, supplier information, and industry
news and articles, takes its first steps into the science
marketplace exhibiting at Pittcon Orlando, 2006.
Featuring a Google type search interface, ReedLink allows
laboratory scientists to easily search and compare product
specifications during the research and buying phase. A
superior product research aide, ReedLink’s parametric
search functionality allows users to input their specific
product criteria. For example, a user searching for spectrometers
can enter the minimum and maximum spectral wavelength,
resolution, frequency, minimum operating temperature and
voltage, bringing back results relevant to those parameters.
Users can contact suppliers directly for more information
or a quote via ReedLink. View an online
demo of how ReedLink works.
Search and comparison categories include Analytical
Balances, Gas
Mixtures (Analytical Instrumentation), and Spectrometers.
See full list of product
categories and companies.
ReedLink is designed to simplify the search for products
in specialized markets while providing the breadth and
depth of information b-2-b users look for when making
buying decisions online. With the addition of life sciences
material, a wider audience can now take advantage of this
useful niche search engine.
