Cole-Parmer’s new Symmetry E Series toploading balances feature stainless
steel weighing pans and durable, lightweight plastic housings. The ED models
are basic, low-cost units with readability ranging from 0.01 to 1.0 g and
capacities from 150 to 4000 g. EC models, which feature an RS-232 interface
and capacity tracker, offer readability of 0.005 to 0.1 g and capacities of
120 to 4000 g.

S. cerevisiae Direct Transformation Kit
Wako’s S. cerevisiae Direct Transformation Kit is specifically designed
for easy transformation of the budding yeast, Saccharomyces sp. The protocol
allows for transformation simply by mixing a plasmid DNA and the kit reagents
with cultured yeast cells. No complicated steps are required, such as
centrifugation or cell washing. The kit is particularly well suited for
high-throughput transformation of a large number of yeast strains grown in
96-well plates. Even genome-wide screening, which has been problematic,
becomes possible since this kit will easily transform about 4,850 strains
with gene disruption.
